Introduction
PatentSight+ provides language settings for the user interface (UI), and document display.
Supported languages include English (default), Chinese (Simplified), Japanese, and Korean for the UI and document display (where applicable).
PatentSight+ supports multiple Language Settings, which are documented as follows:
User Interface (UI) Language
The PatentSight+ user interface is available in the following languages:
English (default)
Chinese (Simplified)
Japanese
Korean
How to select the UI Language
To change the UI language, access the three-dot menu in the top right corner of the application and select your desired language:
Note that, irrespective of the UI language selected, the following items are currently only available in English:
- search syntax and full-text search
- patent documents (title, abstract, claims, description)
- technology classifications (IPC, CPC, F-terms, technology clusters, etc.)
- names of institutions and persons (ultimate owners, applicants, inventors, etc.)
- playbooks
Document Display Language
Users can select the language used to display patent documents and search results, in the results list and document viewer.
The supported options are:
English (Default)
Chinese (Simplified)
Japanese
Korean (where applicable)
Language of publication (to display the original publication language)
Note | Not all patent documents are fully available in every language.
How to select the preferred Document Display Language
You have the option to select the preferred document display language on an account level, via Account Settings, and at document level here.
At Account Level
To change the Document Display language at application level, access the three-dot menu in the top right corner of the application and select "Account Settings":

Please note:
By default, the Document Display Language is set to English. It is not set to “Same as User Interface.” If “Same as User Interface” is selected, the document language will automatically follow the currently selected UI language which be default, is also English.
The "Document Display Language" affects the document preview list. If a language other than the original publication language is selected, PatentSight+ machine translates a portion of that text. For example, if the UI language is set to Japanese and “Same as User Interface” is selected as the Document Display Language, documents will be displayed in Japanese (machine translated where applicable), including in the document preview list.
At Document level
You can access the detail of individual patent families in various ways in PatentSight+, including via the Results List and Document Viewer. To access the Results List:

| Under "Analysis Templates," search for the template "Result List". If it is not displayed right away, you can enter "Result List" into the search box. | |
| Select the template "Result List." |
The Result List includes a list of the patent families returned in your search results. When clicked, the detail of that patent family then shows on the right in the Family Viewer. |

| The Family Viewer is arranged in cards. Each card provides different information on each patent family. |
In the family viewer, click the icon shown to change the document display language for that document. |

| When "Selected Document Display Language" is chosen, the language in Account Settings will be used. By default this is set to English. This setting can be amended in this view by clicking 'Language & Regional Settings' shown below this, in blue. |
