Available Chart Types
At a high level, PatentSight+ offers a range of charts types for your analyses. These are Bar, Column, Waterfall, Line, Pie, Bubble, Matrix, Map, Sunburst and Radar.
Each chart type is suited to different analytical questions such as trends over time, benchmarking, portfolio structure, and geographic analysis amongst others, whereas tables are most suited when you need exact values and structured comparisons rather than visual trends.
In PatentSight+, you have the freedom to construct your own charts and tables, or choose from a selection of pre-configured 'Analysis Templates' as shown in the image below.

Where to select charts and tables
You can create visualizations in two ways:
Via Analysis Templates - recommended for most users. Tables can also be added via the Analysis Templates section.
Via Insert → Chart/Table - to build a chart or table from scratch and choose the chart type manually.
Note – You can also start from a pre-structured workbook (Playbook) designed for a specific use case. Playbooks include multiple pre-built charts and tables that you can apply to your search and then customise. Learn more here.

Click on "Charts" or 'Tables' to select a suitable template. |

Insert Chart or Table
You can also insert a chart via "Insert" → "Chart" or "Table" in the main toolbar, and build it from scratch.

Charts and table templates - "Analysis Templates"
Most users begin with pre-built chart and table templates. The Analysis Templates section provides ready-to-use charts and tables organized by:
Type - most frequently used Charts / Tables
Groupings - Charts and Tables tailored to particular groupings and measures such as Owner, IPC, CPC, Technology Clusters)
Use cases - Charts and Tables tailored to a particular business use case such as Benchmarking, M&A, Trends, Portfolio Management.
Shared templates - this pre-built template of Charts and Tables has been shared to your PatentSight+ account, and is tailored for your specific needs.
If you add a template chart or table before running a search, it will initially display sample data. Once you build and execute a search query in the search panel, the template automatically updates with your actual search results. After that, you can modify the chart or table settings as needed.
Templates automatically populate once a search query is run and can be customized afterward.
Playbooks
In addition to individual charts, tables, and Analysis Templates, PatentSight+ also provides Playbooks.
Playbooks are pre-structured workbooks that combine multiple charts, tables, and predefined filters around a specific analytical topic such as Benchmarking, M&A, and Trends. They provide an example analysis structure that can be adjusted to your own search and objectives. Explanatory commentary is also provided in each sheet to guide interpretation.
